Both brass and copper shim options are available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses based on your specific requirements.

Benefits of Brass & Copper for Shims

Brass and copper shims

Brass and copper are two of the most common types of red metals.  Brass provides excellent resistance to corrosion by water and exhibits corrosion resistance in environments where fuel oil, gasoline, kerosene and alcohol are present. Brass demonstrates excellent electrical conductivity and is extremely popular in the electric industry and appliance industry.

Copper is one of the most useful metals known to man, and it was one of the first to be utilized. Copper is a reddish-yellow material and is extremely ductile. Copper has the highest degree of electrical conductivity of any metal except silver and has excellent corrosion resistance. The thermal conductivity of copper is very high, falling in between silver and gold. There are almost 400 different copper alloys depending on the commercial product made; rods, plates, sheets, strips, tubes, pipes, extrusions, foils, forgings, wires, and castings from foundries.

Standard Material Grades

SPIROL stocks the following standard grades and tempers of brass and copper to manufacture Shims, Washers and Spacers:

Brass Shim Grades: 260 Brass (ASTM B36)

Copper Shim Grades: UNS C11000 (ASTM B152, AMS 4500 and CDA 110)

Standard Thickness

SPIROL stocks standard 260 brass in thicknesses from 0.05mm to 3mm (.002" to .125") and C110 copper in thicknesses from 0.5mm to 1.6mm (.020" to .063") for quick turnaround of Shims, Spacers and Washers.

Specials

If a special alloy or temper of brass or copper is required, SPIROL will procure the custom material from our certified raw material suppliers to manufacture your Shims, Washers and Spacers.
