SPIROL manufactures Aluminum Shims, Washers and Spacers in thicknesses from 0.05mm to 3mm (.002" to .125"). Aluminum Shims are a corrosion resistant option and ideal for a variety of industries and applications. Our aluminum shim stock is available in the following grades of aluminum: 1100 H19, 3003 H14, 2024 T3, 5052 H34, 6061 T6, and 7075 T6.

Benefits of Aluminum as a Shim Material

Aluminum Shims

Aluminum is remarkable for its ability to resist corrosion due to the phenomenon of passivation and for the metal's low density. While in general, aluminum has very good corrosion resistance in most environments, different alloys of aluminum result in different levels of corrosion resistance and strength.

Industrial Applications

Aluminum shim stock is used in a wide vareity of applications including but not limited to:

  • New machine assembly
  • Tool and die set up
  • Short run and prototype work

Using aluminum for your Shims offers incredible corrosion resistance as well as a light weight solution. Structural components made from aluminum and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and very important in other areas of transportation and building.

Aluminum Stock Shim Grades

SPIROL stocks the following standard grades and tempers of aluminum:

  • 1100 H19
  • 3003 H14
  • 2024 T3
  • 5052 H34
  • 6061 T6
  • 7075 T6

Order your stock aluminum Shims in any of the above grades in a wide range of thicknesses.

Standard Shim Thickness

SPIROL stocks standard aluminum alloys in thicknesses ranging from 0.05mm to 3mm (.002" to .125") for quick turnaround of Shims, Spacers and Washers.

Laminated Aluminum Shims

Here at SPIROL we offer capabilities in using aluminum as a laminated material. Making use of Laminated Shims grants you benefits such as cost savings through achieving various close tolerances at a quicker rate and reductions in assembly time.

The choice of laminate material has to correlate with the nature of your application. Aluminum should be chosen as the laminate material when the application is exposed to less than 300°F and no pressure.

Manufacturing Capabilities

Our objective at SPIROL is to ensure that we provide our customers with the highest quality machined components. For aluminum material we provide access to our shim machining capabilities that include CNC laser cutting, high speed machining, grinding, lapping, passivating, heat treating and bar coding. Custom packaging options are also available.

Specials

If a special alloy or temper of aluminum is required, SPIROL will procure the custom material from our certified raw material suppliers to manufacture your Shims, Washers and Spacers.
